Waiting On Wednesday (5) Instructions For A Broken Heart

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
PhotobucketTitle: Instructions For A Broken Heart
Author: Kim Culbertson
Release Date: May 1st 2011
Publisher: Sourcebooks, Incorporated
Synopsis (from Goodreads): Three days before her drama club's trip to Italy, Jessa Gardner discovers her boyfriend in the costume barn with another girl. Jessa is left with a care package from her best friend titled "Top Twenty Reasons He's a Slimy Jerk Bastard," instructing her to do one un-Jessa-like thing each day of the trip. At turns hilarious and heartwrenching, Instructions for a Broken Heart paints a magical Italy in which Jessa learns she must figure out life-and romance-for herself.

Why I'm waiting on it: Okay, how promising is that synopsis? And it's set in Italy! I'm totally sold on this book already, and can't wait until May!

Title: Scorpia Rising
Author: Anthony Horowitz
Release Date: March 22nd 2011
Publisher: Philomel
Synopsis: Scorpia has dogged Alex Rider for most of his life. They killed his parents, they did their best to con Alex into turning traitor, and they just keep coming back with more power. Now the world's most dangerous terrorist organization is playing with fire in the world's most combustible land: the Middle East. No one knows Scorpia like Alex. And no one knows how best to get to Alex like Scorpia. Until now.

The chases have never been more intense, the fights more treacherous, or the risks so perilous to mankind. And this time, Alex won't get away.

Why I'm waiting on it: I've loved the Alex Rider series since I was a kid, so to see that the last one is finally coming out made me ecstatic. Although I've fallen a little behind with the series I'll have to set aside a few weekends and read them all before I get this one.

PhotobucketTitle: But I Love Him
Author: Amanda Grace
Release Date: May 8th 2011
Publisher: Flux
Synopsis: Tonight was so much worse than anything before it.
Tonight he didn't stop after the first slap.

At the beginning of senior year, Ann was a smiling, straight-A student and track star with friends and a future. Then she met a haunted young man named Connor. Only she can heal his emotional scars; only he could make her feel so loved-and needed. Ann can't recall the pivotal moment it all changed, when she surrendered everything to be with him, but by graduation, her life has become a dangerous high wire act. Just one mistake could trigger Connor's rage, a senseless storm of cruel words and violence damaging everything-and everyone-in its path.

This evocative slideshow of flashbacks reveals a heartbreaking story of love gone terribly wrong.

Why I'm waiting on it: It sounds like a heart-wrenching read, but also could be a beautiful story if told correctly. I hope it's as good as the synopsis suggests!

Title: Steel
Author: Carrie Vaughn
Release Date: March 15th 2011
Publisher: Harper Teen
Synopsis: When Jill finds a rusty sword tip on a Caribbean beach, she is instantly intrigued—and little expects it will transport her through time to the deck of a pirate ship. Will a dark enchantment, salty kisses, and a duel with an evil pirate captain leave her stranded in the eighteenth century forever?

Drawing on piratical lore and historical fact, Carrie Vaughn creates a vivid world of swaying masts and swelling seas, where blood magic overrules the laws of nature, romance is in the air, and death can come at the single slip of a sword.

Why I'm waiting on it: I've never read a pirate story before, much less one starring a female, but with that synopsis - well I'm sold. Bring on March 15!
